Since assuming the office of Deputy Prime Minister on February 8, 2024, H.E. Temesgen Tiruneh has emerged as a driving force in Ethiopia’s journey toward economic revitalization, institutional transformation, and self-reliance. His leadership blends strategic vision with an unwavering commitment to sustainable development, inclusive governance, and the empowerment of future generations to carry Ethiopia’s aspirations forward.

A respected statesman and reform-minded leader, Temesgen Tiruneh is currently serves as Vice President of the Ruling Prosperity Party, where he plays a key role in shaping the political agenda and ensuring that the party’s vision aligns with the nation’s long-term development goals. Born on December 16, 1974, in the historic town of Bichena in the Gojjam area of the Amhara Regional State, his life story is deeply interwoven with Ethiopia’s evolving modern narrative.

Over the course of a distinguished career, he has held some of the country’s most critical leadership posts: President of the Amhara Region, Director-General of the National Intelligence and Security Service, and Minister of Security Advisor to the Prime Minister. Each role strengthened his reputation as a decisive, principled, and reform-driven public servant.

Temesgen Tiruneh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering and a Master’s degree in Transformational Leadership and Change from University of Greenwich, credentials that underscore his academic grounding in governance and leadership. Beyond the public arena, he is a devoted family man, sharing his life with his wife, Gojam Sintayehu, and together they are the proud parents of one daughter and one son.
